Windhoek, Namibia – July 11, 2025
The Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) successfully concluded its two-day Learner Representative Council (LRC) conference, which took place on the 9th to the 10th July 2025. The event was held at the NAMCOL Jetu Jama Campus.
Organized and facilitated by NAMCOL’s Learner Support directorate, the conference had a dual focus. Its key agenda items included providing crucial refresher training for the existing LRC members and conducting elections to fill vacant positions within the National Executive Committee.
Several students actively participated in the conference, engaging in discussions and in the electoral process. Following democratic elections held during the event, the following students emerged victorious and will now form part of the National Executive Committee members, ensuring robust student representation across NAMCOL’s regional centres:
Vice-Chairperson: Vaja Katjipu (TVET student, Southern Region)
Secretary: Elwa Mvula (TP Student – Kavango East)
Treasurer: Joao Laurencia (PETE Learner – Kavango East)
The newly elected National Executive Committee members will play a vital role in fulfilling the LRC’s mandate, representing the interests of NAMCOL learners, and ensuring their voices are heard within the college’s governance structures.
